Chris Kelly von "the-ear" hat einen fantastischen Testbericht über das Lautsprecherkabel Tellurium Q - Ultra Black II veröffentlicht.

However, whatever it is it works wonders. I have yet to hear a speaker cable which delivers timing like this one. I cannot quantify scientifically the difference between the two generations but if pressed I’d say they are 30 to 40 percent better. That is a big leap in performance.

A good friend of mine manages a well respected retail outlet in South West London, and gave me a lot of invaluable advice and guidance when I decided to get a Linn LP12, which I did last year. When I told him what I was reviewing he said “Good, now you will find out just how good that LP12 really is!”. He was right.

Even taking in account all the awards that the old Ultra Black speaker cable won, this new version gives a whole new level of performance that is obvious from the first second of listening. Greater detail, more clarity, more organic but still sitting very firmly in the Black cable family.

The Silver Diamond interconnects blended a combination of smooth midrange, detail and focus plus an airy midrange to give a splendidly descriptive performance that never sounded pinched or cramped but, on the contrary, allowed the music to roam wherever it fancied. More than anything, this element of trusting the music to do whatever it wanted meant that every piece of music played though them was exciting.

The Silver Diamond speaker cables offered a tremendous tonal realism, clarity and detail combined with a naturalistic flow. You don’t feel that music is bumping its head on any unnatural music boundaries which means there is less subconscious tension around the soundstage and that relaxation I mentioned flows in abundance. You feel that you could listen to your music for hours (and hours).

The Silver Diamond standard should arrive with a government warning, it’s dangerously easy to listen to these cables.

GOOD: dynamic reach, transient performance, clarity, spacious soundstage, tonal realism

BAD: nothing

... the Black II is a no-brainer compared with the original cable. It is really superb, whatever it is made of.

In der Ausgabe 04/2017 des LP Magazins ist ein Testbericht für den VPI Prime Signature erschienen.

Der Signature ist in der Lage, seine Masse sehr zielgerichtet einzusetzen. Auf der einen Seite wirkt die Wiedergabe souverän, ruhig und scheinbar völlig befreit von äußeren Einflüssen. Jegliche Art von Musik gewinnt dadurch an Durchsetzungsvermögen. Es ist aber nicht die schiere Wucht, die wir des Öfteren bei großen Masselaufwerken feststellen konnten, die den VPI so besonders macht: Oberhalb des selbstredend gewaltigen Bassbereichs tut sich ebenso viel: Über dem weiten Mitteltonbereich herrscht eine große Klarheit, die eine extrem genaue Sicht auf die Dinge erlaubt.

Ein im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes ganz Großer unter den Plattenspielern, der souverän genug ist, um sich um die Technik keine Sorgen mehr zu machen.

Äußerlich kaum verändert, also warum das Black II?

"Das Black hat mehrere Auszeichnungen gewonnen, es ist unsere Aufgabe zeitgemäß zu bleiben."

Geoff Merrigan von Tellurium fuhr fort, weiter zu erklären:

Thomas Jüngling ist Wirtschaftsredaktuer bei der "WELT" und hat einen sehr interessanten Artikel zum Thema "komprimierter Digitalklang" veröffentlicht.

Er bezieht sich dabei auf eine Untersuchung der TU Berlin um Benjamin Blankertz. Dort heißt es:

„Auch wenn die Versuchspersonen subjektiv keinen Unterschied zwischen dem ursprünglichen und dem gestörten Signal ausmachen konnten: Das Gehirn war trotzdem unterschiedlich aktiv. Je stärker die Störung ausgeprägt war, desto stärker waren auch diese Aktivierungen“

Abgesehen von komprimierten und verlustreichen Klängen löst auch Musik Irritationen im Gehirn aus, die am Synthesizer oder Computer entstanden ist. Das hat eine Studie von Professor Theo Geisel am Max-Planck-Institut für Dynamik und Selbstorganisation ergeben.

„Das Besondere an elektronisch erstellter oder nachbearbeiteter Musik ist, dass sich Beats extrem gleichmäßig und präzise setzen lassen. Und sie können exakt und nach Belieben auf eine Stelle im Musikstück positioniert werden“

erklärt Holger Hennig, der an der Studie beteiligt war und jetzt als Physiker an der Harvard University tätig ist.

What makes Tellurium Q so dif cult to review is not what makes it perfect for an award. The TQ team play their cards close to their chest, and categorically refuse to discuss almost anything about the cables in terms of design, metallurgy (although we know the incidence of both silver and diamonds in this cable is relatively limited), or construction – not out of secrecy, but rather that it’s looking at a cable in the wholly wrong way. Instead, they focus on Silver Diamond’s ability to act as less of a  lter than most cables, and that this performance is particularly well suited toward high-end systems. When th cables are used in that context, asserts Alan Sircom, “Silver Diamond is extraordinarly transparent, satisfyingly open, full-bodied, with an awesome bass, and extremely sweet and smooth across the midrange.”

Das Magazin "LP" hat für den VPI Plattenspieler Prime den "Best Of LP 2016" Award verliehen.

Ein guter Hersteller zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass er Referenz-Technologie möglichst schnell in die Großserie einfl ießen lässt. So geschehen bei VPI, die ihren innovativen 3D-Tonarm kurze Zeit nach dessen Erscheinen bereits auf einem bezahlbaren Modell, dem „Prime“ montiert haben. Dazu gibt es ein paar sehr sinnvolle und hörbare Detailverbesserungen am Laufwerk, und fertig ist ein Best Buy in der 5.000-Euro-Klasse.
